The dog is very often man's best friend, doing his job at best for thousands of years. His tasks may have changed during centuries, but his love for the human that feeds him and takes good care of him is pure and unconditional. That's the reason why my friend chose a golden Labrador retriever as an Easter gift for his girlfriend.
After searching through hundreds of adds with cute little puppies that make you wanna take them all at home he decided on one. Not an easy task considering that he could buy just one. The lucky puppy that has found a loving family a few days before Easter was named D'Artagnan and was driven 250 kilometers from the city of Constanta, near the Black Sea, to Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
From Bucharest we had to pick the golden fluffy pup that was a bit hazy about the situation of being taken from its siblings right in the middle of their afternoon play time. Unfortunately, Bucharest is not that close to our hometown so we had to drive about 470 kilometers to get there.
Not the most enjoyable ride considering that Romania doesn't have to many highways and the traffic was congested, but the puppy motivated us like nothing could do. I, and my friend Ionut started driving from home at about 4 PM and after about 5 hours we were in Bucharest. I was the "lucky" guy to drive first and test my patience on the crowded Romanian roads.
At 9 PM we were there meeting with the owner of the dog that drove the 2 months old puppy for 250 kilometers from Constanta. I have to admit that the dog is very cute and is the son of a champion, but a little bit of smelly, farting from time to time.
The man who sold the dog to my friend was a wet so he could help him buy all the stuff necessary for the pups transportation to our home town. After buying all this and giving him the "manual user" of the pup we put him in his new "mobile house" and started our journey back to our hometown. D'Artagnan was not very excited to leave his owner and jump in the trunk of a strange car thus wining a bit, but after feeding him he started to calm down.
When we left Bucharest it was 10 PM and the traffic was much better than it was in the afternoon. I took the passenger seat in our drive back home letting my friend take his beautiful Easter Present to his girlfriend. D'Artagnan behaved very well not farting that much and complaining less and less about leaving his former family.
At two months old he will fall in love with my friends very easy for sure and will have a good life worth of a champion. The previous owner even suggest that Ionut should make D'Artagnan also a champion by taking him to canine shows next year. We will have to see if this will happen, but at least we know that he has great chances to win in his category.
We arrived home at 3:30 AM with a "golden" passenger ready to meet his new human "mommy" and take a good warm bath. It was a journey I would do any time making me also consider buying a dog.
Future pictures of D'Artagnan and his loving family will be posted in the future. Hopefully we will see him next year becoming a champion although in the hearts of his owners he already is.
