Judging others - by @dragonslayer101

in #life7 years ago (edited)

It is so easy to walk by someone and judge them for their appearance or judge them by their social status. When we meet people we judge them immediately, but are our judgements and intentions good, or do we just brush them off and don't give them the chance to show who they actually are.

A few years ago I had just started the new year of school, I knew the students in the school, but things were different now as we had different classes and not many of the students knew who I was. The bell rang and we needed to meet up in one of the quads to get assigned to our register classrooms.

A girl form my grade walked passed me and gave me a smile, she must have know that I was lost as she waked up to me and asked me if I knew where I needed to go. I told her that I had not idea, she then grabbed my arm and said to me that I did not need to worry and follow her. When we got assigned to our classes she ended up in the same register class as me.

Later I learnt that she was one of the popular kids of her previous school. I never knew this girl, I had never spoken to her before and I had never met her before. Her act of kindness I will never forget and we became good friends after that day.

I was unpopular to my grade at the time and she could of easily left and not been my friend, but she did not judge me when she met me and she got to know me despite what the others thought of me. Years later, nearing the end of my high school years I became popular amongst the other girls of may grade, but that leader to even more unpopularity with the guys of my grade, but that did not matter to me anyway.

One small act of kindness changed my whole high school experience and I will never forget the friendship I shared with her.

Wonderful that you were lucky enough to have a good high school experience, many don't.

This is such a touching story! I'm glad high school was an enjoyable experience for you! The act of kindness goes a long way! It reminds me of the moment in the movie "Wonder" where a teacher was advising his pupils that if they have a choice between being right and being kind, always choose kind! It's so true in every situation!

It’s not the clothes that count, but the things the clothes cover)) I have learned a lot of new things. Of course, I supported your post. I'm looking forward to reciprocity ...

Thank God for small acts of kindness, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.

Judging blindly is bad, we should not judge anyone'on the basis of skin n colour, we shouldn't see the color on the human beings bt the contents

I agree we are all the same! its all about the inside, we need to love and nourish our minds bodies and souls!

nice people do exist!

I know that feeling so well?, just because I am extremely Good Looking, Intelligent, Modest and not allergic to Kryptonite, everyone expects me to be a nice Guy?, how wrong can you be?

Kids can be some of the meanest people of the world, however, that one act of kindness can mean so much for the rest of someone's life. Thanks for the share!

Hello from @sjob
It is true that judging others based on color, clothing, language or anything in schools is very common and that creates lots of stress among the kids. Thank you for sharing your great story
God bless!

It's true that we often judge others based on the first impression. I think that we all have it within, that judging mentality but I know, based on my experience that it is a matter of will to change it. Being less judgmental towards people we meet means being more open-minded and giving a chance to things or people which we don't yet understand. Thanks for sharing your story.
