If you are a regular reader of my stuff, you have probably, at some point, read about my mental health. Since 2015 I've been struggling with PTSD and General Anxiety Disorder due to a life-threatening surgery I had to go through. I've had my fair share of good days, but lately, I've noticed some changes, especially in my sleep pattern and anxiety that are getting worse with every passing day.
The main reason why I started looking for different alternatives was that despite having an overall support system around me, I really felt the need to seek for a more clinical space where I am sure I can let everything out and gain an objective perspective while I'm at it.
The thing is, being a student and freelance graphic designer in my country makes it almost impossible to afford any kind of therapy, so that has been out of the question for these past three years.
Until now.
Better Help is a company that provides its customers full access to quality, professional help. When signing up, you will fill out a short set of questions to get matched with a licensed counselor, and once you are all set, you will start communicating with him or her through online messages, phone calls or scheduled video calls.
You also get to have a bit of control over choosing your counselor since you can personalize the search according to your needs. If you find yourself in need of someone who specifies in family issues, relationships, depression or anxiety, you can get matched with them. Once you are at that stage, you can read a very precise biography of your counselor which specifies their studies and years of experience.
And, if the time comes and you feel like you couldn't connect with them, you can change counselor, and you'll be assigned a new one that fits best. I've done that already, and I'm waiting to get matched again.
The service fees are pretty accessible, and are currently at $65 per week for unlimited counseling; meaning, you can literally talk to your therapist every goddamn day. If something's popping in your mind, you can send them a message, and they'll be there for you.
I'm not sure the costs of therapy in your country but in Uruguay are pretty much similar, except for the fact you just get a 40-minute session per week instead of a 24/7 kind of thing.
And I've just bought myself a whole month, all thanks to Steemit and cryptocurrency.
And all thanks to @acidyo's awesome post on how to transfer your crypto to PayPal.
Now I'm waiting to get matched with another counselor, and as soon as it happens, I'll be able to move forward to discuss in more detail what I've been struggling with.
The point of this post was to let you all know that if you feel like you need help, there are accessible options out there that might work out for you. And, most importantly, money shouldn't stop you from getting the help you deserve.
Stay safe!
Thanks for being so open and I love that you can actually do this.
I hope it works and I hope this post can help someone else too. Thank you so much!
That’s awesome, mate. So good to read you’ve found the help you were seeking.
I think we’re also going to see more and more practitioners offering their services in exchange for crypto in some form.
I certainly do that with what I offer, especially seeing as some clients are ‘distance’ clients we work over online-video services.
My website is being rebuilt at the moment, and I’m getting pay systems that accept crypto integrated into the site - only BTC at this stage, but anyone that wants to pay with crypto knows how to send coin into wallets, so no big deal.
Good luck with it all, mate!!!!
😊🙏🏽☯️
That actually sounds like a really awesome idea! Good luck with your website!
I went through therapy when I was younger, and it made a world of difference. Hope this solution will do you a lot of good. And so good to know about PayPal and that we can actually pay for stuff with our earned SBD's! Wishing you all best of luck!
Today I've had my first session, and I'm extremely happy about it, I really hope it works, and this post helps someone else in need too. Yes! That Paypal tutorial is the freaking best, it's entirely safe and works perfectly!
