WHAT IS NIDRA YOGA (or deep relaxation)?
Yoga Nidra, which goes back to Ancient and Secret #Yoga, is a powerful technique of conscious relaxation, which has nothing to do with sleeping. Nidra yoga, unlike dream yoga, uses the boundary conditions between sleeping and waking when falling asleep and when waking.
#Yoga #Nidra is often called a psychic dream, a deep relaxation with inner awareness, when on the verge of sleep and wakefulness there is a spontaneous contact with the sphere of the subconscious and the unconscious, when sleep and reality can overlap. And at the same time, the same effect is achieved as after a long, serious meditation.
The practice of yoga Nidra leads to a state of relaxation by withdrowing consciousness from external impressions and its immersion into the innermost depths of the psyche. It is believed that the yoga-nidra hour replaces four hours of normal sleep. If consciousness is separated from both external perception and sleep, it is filled with strength that can be used for various purposes: strengthening of memory, accumulating knowledge, enhancing creative abilities, transforming the whole personality. In addition, the practice reduces anxiety and relieves tension.
Practicing yoga Nidra, we do not just rest, but we restructure, transform ourselves as a whole. With each new practice, we burn old samskaras (accumulated impressions), habits and tendencies, to be reborn to the new life.
Nidra yoga is based on ancient yogic practices and mental nyasa - transfering of consciousness in different parts of the body. This leads to a state of conscious sleep - the person seems to be asleep, but does not lose touch with what is happening around. Following the voice instructions, we consistently relax one after another all parts of the body. During the practice of yoga-nidra, consciousness passes through different parts of the body, pulling out the body memories from the subconscious. Working through unnecessary body tension we get rid of anxiety.
