Greetings everyone!!
I know it has been a while since I have written and hopefully I will be able to post more regularly, at least for a while.
The holiday season kept me hopping making and shipping my ceramics and pottery. I am happy for a much needed break!! Not that it will be a long break, but at least a little one.
I have a ton of new projects in the works as well as new plans for the business as I try to keep growing it.
I am in the process of making entire kitchen sets that you can add on to and totally coordinate your kitchen decor with functional art. Canister sets, mixing bowls, salt and pepper shakers, mugs and so on.
Currently I am playing with some designs to see which I like the best and then I will start the sets.
These are a couple of practice jars. I can't wait to see how they come out in the firing. Things change during firing so I am hoping they still look good when they come out.
The one below I was practicing banding. I have not done any banding in a long time. This is done by hand. Placing the piece on a wheel, spinning the wheel with one hand while painting on the band with the other hand. You have really got to have a steady hand for this work and I am out of practice!!
Last, I tried my hand at roses. I used to do a lot of the "one stroke" style of painting on wood and other objects. Working with acrylic paints is a lot easier than working with glazes that change in the firing. I really have no idea if this will come out when it is fired or not. So many things can happen in the kiln!!
In amongst all the hard work I built a new web site, dumped my shop on facebook when they locked my shop during the biggest shopping days of the year, and managed to get in a little genealogy, LOL. I'll share what I have found in my genealogy research in another post.
It feels good to be back!! I sure have missed being here, and missed all of you!!
Until next time,,,,,,,
