Making oneself of a higher priority is a natural quality we are born with, it's not the same thing as selfishness and its absence is a major cause for anxiety disorders. Yet, those who want to control and take advantages of others usually tend to convince them that it is selfishness to take care of yourself.
Hello @zen-art, What you have exposed here is of much usefulness to many people. Many need to not feel guilty about their mental or emotional disorder. People usually can't feel a pain they hadn't already experienced That is why we should believe and be compassionate to those who complain about something we don't understand.

Compassion is a great gift you can give someone who is hurting, sometimes that is enough. I agree that there are those who will take advantage of others when they see the opportunity. Many religious fanatic groups operate in that way, by promoting that you should never put yourself first and always help others, but you can not pour from an empty glass. If you are not well yourself you will never be able to help others.
