How to think about distractions (video)

One of the biggest obstacle that stands between you and success is distractions. And not because they are inherently bad but because we have no idea how to manage them.  We do not control them but they control us, and thus our results.

As i see it distractions come in 2 main forms:
1) things  you can control to some extent, like social media use or wasting time with various activities.
and
2)things that are not in your control like life events. 

No matter if the events is positive or negative you still get distracted from your goals. The key word here is IMPACT.  

An unfortunate accident happens? You win the lottery? you lose in both cases.
Good or bad life events, have no mercy on your focus, they give you no option
Should i get distracted? Should i not?
You will lose your focus and that is perfectly normal but the important questions is:
For how long?
or
How fast can you get back? 


Most of people are at the mercy of the elements, they do not really ever consider getting back, because they assume that will happen naturally. 

They  just take the new path and stay with it indefinetely, see where it leads.  Some people actually never recover from such life events. The bigger, the more impact it has the less chances they will ever get back and get on with their life, projects, goals and dreams 


So what makes something to be a distraction?
Just by choosing to focus on one choosen path, one goal, one project, that labels everything else as a distraction by default.
So it's not productive to think about distractions  in terms of: how can i eliminate distractions completly.
Rather than how could i:
1) eliminate distractions that i put in my life(the ones that i can control)
and
2)how can i minimize or manage the influece distractions that i can not control have in my life?
