Hey Steemians. Hope you guys were doing great.
Before starting, first, let me put you into a question. What do you think, a glass ball bounces more or a general rubber ball?
Take some time and think.......
Okay...
You will be surprised to know that a ball made up of glass bounces much more than a rubber ball of the same size (provided glass doesn't break😂😂).
Confused ?? That's okay...even I got confused when I heard it.
Well to understand this that why a simple glass ball can bounce more than a rubber, we must understand that what makes an object bounce back...
Well, there's a very simple reason behind it which is "Elasticity between the ball and the surface".
It is this elasticity that makes anything bounce back. When an object hits the surface, it does an elastic collision. It bounces back only when it get back the energy which is exerted on the floor while hitting it.
So when a rubber ball hits the surface, it gets slightly compressed which leads to loss of energy. It bounces back with the much lesser energy than before.
But the case is different in a glass ball or even or steel ball. (I am saying again that size and mass of the comparative balls must be equal).
When a glass ball hits the surface, it doesn't get deformed or compressed which results in a very mere energy loss.
It retains the energy which is imparted on the floor to which it hit.
Quite different but a good fun fact you knew today.
