I wonder why I never got into coding sometimes. Maybe it was I felt I was competent enough on the systems and networking side of things to establish a career in the field. Maybe getting into coding in my late 30s what when I was meant too. But I do find it fascinating that I faded the most creative aspect of computer science.
The artistic expression is much more attainable digitally through code. It's an obvious statement. As I've lived, my expressions have been musically mostly, a reality based sonic creative expression of the language of emotion. Code has always been more abstract in a sense, underlying systems working, no real hands on tangible creation.
Understanding print("Hello world")
My absolute first real dip into coding was when I obtained an Arduino around 2012. The ability to switch a pin on/off, and tie an LED to it, and watch it blink.....That was my Hello World. It was my code, doing something IRL. I connected a lot of doo-dads and gadgets to the arduino and kept coding to make it do more weird cool stuff with real world effect.
This made me understand the sentiment behind "Hello World" much better. Running Hello World programs is the ultimate form of MVP, minimal viable product. How quickly can a coder get real world results with as little code or knowledge about coding as possible? It never really clicked to me that Hello World on my display was a real world result, my brain sorta separated real and digital world, and coding completes the gap.
