I may be a big fan of games that offer a good fantasy of power, but there is something to be said for the right title that you charge for using more than just brawn. Enter Void Bastards, a new twist in the ol 'strategy-shooter genre by Jonathan Chey, co-founder of Irrational Games, that looks completely delightful.
Announced during the X018 event at the weekend, Void Bastards seems a bit sublime. I am a sucker for everything that has been hatched in the cell and the game has a bucket full of charm with its aesthetic and cheeky humor on Saturday morning. Anyway, you and a man team from the titular glorious Void Bastards are stuck in the distant regions of the Sargassan Nebula and some whole hostile space.
As a leader (BONJERNO!), It is up to you to make the difficult decisions and use your crew to despise and eliminate the different enemies who all want a piece of you:
Looks good, right? In Void Bastards you must have a plan for each encounter, while navigating through enemy territory and searching for supplies that can be used to fend pirates with editable weapons such as a "distracting robo-kitty". Awwwww, it is so cute in his murder application. Death is probably often happens, therefore it is fortunate that you have an endless supply of convicts to use as cannon fodder.
However, do not count on surviving the enemy bullets with the trapped meat bags, as failure can lead to less access to the materials you need. So far, so good! Void Bastard will be out early in 2019 and will also participate in the Xbox Game Pass program.
