Finding the balance within - part 1

in #life7 years ago

How many times have you been struggling to suppress your emotions, to not let yourself be seen by the rest of the people around you. What can you do each time when you interact with your friends and colleagues and you want to hide the pain, the frustration or any other negative feeling you have.

How many of you are searching for ways of eliminating the sadness and the pain from your life? It seems the human nature has evolved so beautifully that we don't even need to read about means of hiding. The knowledge of wearing masks to hide from everyone is within our body from the day we are born. But is this a way of dealing with the things that give us pain?

Time is the most precious resource of human beings in this universe. Take that away and you have the result of many regrets and sadness. This is the main problem of most people when it comes to finding the balance, trying to figure out how to not waste time.

I found out a couple of ways of balancing my emotions, it wasn't hard but I would like to share them with you.

Empty your mind

Go somewhere you feel relaxed, a park, a lake, your favorite place. Sit down and breathe slowly, close your eyes and relax your whole body. Don't think of anything just focus on your breathing, make sure you control it and not breathe from instinct. Then slowly let go of any thought you have, let it all go. Cut all connections with your surroundings, your worries, your love for the ones close to you. Free yourself of the burden which you created since the moment you were conscious on this Planet. It will be hard in the beginning but with time you can do this anytime, anywhere. Once all of your connections have been cut to this world, stay there, don't go anywhere, just try to meditate for a few minutes. It will calm your mind and help you create order in your own chaos.

Accept the sadness

We have the tendency to fight all the time, fight for our survival, fight for our well being, fight for a smile, fight for a kiss. We always want to feel good and laugh and enjoy this world with tears of joy in our eyes. The problem is all around us there are factors that burst our happy bubble and teach us only misery and pain. So we try to run away from it, we try to control our emotions and not let it show or get under our skin. This is a mistake people make one too many times. Pain, suffering, anger, despair, are also a part of us. We need only accept their existence and use them in our life to give us control over them. Imagine you have a new bicycle that you never rode just because you're afraid you'll fall off it and hurt yourself. You will never master riding that bike if you don't try and try again. Accept all the parts that create chaos into our souls. Do this in your own home, or at your favorite place that relaxes you, a place where you can get in touch with yourself. After you empty your mind, focus on all the doors that are holding the dark slimy parts of your soul and open them. Let them loose, focus on each feeling and let it consume your very being. Let your soul get as dark and in as much pain as it can. Don't control anything, just let it happen. Just like a river that wants to flow downstream but it's blocked, so are your feelings of sadness, anger, despair, jealousy etc. Let them flow through you and accept their effects. They are a part of you so if you try to keep them hidden it will be as if you're trying to cover one of your eyes to see perfectly. You will function half way instead of being perfect.

Nothing lasts forever

Once you've let everything flow through, I can assure you a great deal of pain and tears will come out. It's just a natural response of the body to your feelings. Don't worry about it, nothing lasts forever, everything passes away like a leaf in the wind. We create new feelings with every experience we have. Let the new ones replace the old. Never dwell on the past, you will only place rocks on your neck and you will make yourself sink even lower into you misery. There is a saying, what's the only thing left to do when you fall down? Start climbing back up again.

You are alone

As much as you want to fight this idea and can come up with all sorts of proof of the opposite, you have a family, a lover, friends, the truth is very simple. You are alone. If you accept this into your heart you will be able to deal with almost anything in your life. It's the most difficult thing you would want to do but it is a foundation stone for building your own self. Other people can always hurt you, but you can never hurt yourself. I'm not saying live your life as a lone wolf, but live with this own refuge. In case of emergency, go to your happy place :))
Just wanted to make a joke there for not being so serious all the post. No one will pick you up if you start pouring your misery on them, they will get scared or overwhelmed by it. And even if there are people that can do that you will end up with bad advice of poor solutions that can cause more harm than good. Trust yourself and be the one that deals with your own emotions. You are the one controlling them not the other way around and certainly not anyone else. You can't start building a Lego house if you don't break apart the old one. Lay all the pieces on the floor and start building it back up one piece at a time.

Unfortunately I don't have enough time to finish this post now but I will post part 2 soon so have patience and feel free to speak your mind about anything.
