Temples are built where there exist enormous amount of sacred energy vibes. It is believed that the place where temples are built, is the smallest piece of the universe where God lives. So in past, once such favorable place was located, people constructed a temple and Pundit started offering Puja at that place. Usually a metal piece was placed, especially containing copper element, in the foundation of the temple by digging a pit and then a temple was built over it. As copper is a good conductor of energy, all the positive energy around it would be concentrated around the temple and then this energy is radiated in and around the temple premises.
Before entering to the temple, the first thing we do is, we take out our footwear and wash our feet. The reason behind this is, we use our footwear everywhere i.e. they are being used even in filthy places. So, to maintain the positive energy of the temple we do not use them inside the temples. We have seen many times that a center is marked inside the temples, usually marked with circular marble pieces or circular designs. It is believed that this spot has the highest source of divine energy. When we walk barefoot over it, that energy enters through the energy points of our foot into our body.
We always ring the bell after entering into the temple. Is there any science behind this?
YES! The temple bells are made up of selected metals so that the bells can produce a resonant sound. After ringing the bell, the resonant sounds produced by the bell last for few seconds. One should stand below the bell to absorb vibrations coming out of the bell. It is believed that these resonant sounds help our brain to align and co-ordinate with the body so that we can concentrate in our prayers. Thus if there is any negativity in our mind, it gets eliminated inside the temple. All of our body senses start working from this moment. Also when we offer flowers to the idols or take Prasad (sweets offered to idols) or offer prayers etc. we absorb as many powerful energies as we can. After this we walk around the temple or the idols inside the temple (also called as Pradakshina), to gain more energy.
Old people say that one should not leave the temple immediately after offering the prayers. One should sit there for some time to settle the absorbed energy. This brings peace of mind and happiness to the life of that person. One should keep in mind these untold reasons behind visiting old & traditional temples, as they carry huge scientific values!
