One thing I love about travelling is the friends you can make all over the world. The guy below leaning against the truck is a proper bushman, but one that loves a joke. He was born and bred in the Pantanal and has never left so as you can imagine he had no idea what my iPhone was. One of the days we were out trekking he gave me some of the liquor ice that he chews throughout the day - well - that's what he said it was...

Turns out it was a practical joke, and it was a super strength tobacco that he chews throughout the day. He thought it was hilarious that I was almost sick!

Spending days upon days in the jungle makes the simple things much more special. After a hard days work fixing a flat Tyre in the tropical sunshine is nothing more satisfying than chopping down coconuts and drinking straight from them.

Every night when the sun goes down the Howler monkeys come out. These guys have one of the loudest noises in the animal kingdom. They call to each other with this deep howl to mark their territory - the sound of their call can travel up to 3 miles through the rain forest.

One evening as we were walking through a thicket of trees we looked up and amazingly could see a bunch of these howler monkeys. One by one they came down to see us.

When these monkeys started urinating and throwing their excrement at us we realised they were not that excited to see us!
