Born in 1993, at the time Nadia was 21 years, she had nothing knowledge about Islamic religion except her high school study how far she had become a history teacher and makeup artist, instead her life was brutally torn apart by militants intent on ridding Iraq of all Yazidi s .She eventually escaped to Mosul where a Muslim family helped her obtain fake Islamic identification that enabled her to escape ISIS territory.
Her ordeal began 3 Aug 2014, after ISIS militant arrived at her village of KOCHO in Iraq Kurdistan. Her mother and six of her nine brothers and step brothers were executed, while many of unmarried women in the village were taken as sex slaves and passed around the militants.
U N recognized , when ISIS militants attacked her village in northern Iraq, they first killed many of the older woman and men in her community, including her mother and six of her brothers and step brothers, before busing her to Mosul, where she and the other young woman and children abducted along with her , where brutalized as sex slaves. Murad eventually escaped, only to recount her suffering again and again. She underlines that her abduction was no “spontaneous decision made on the battle field by a greedy solider “ ISIS planed it all, even its propaganda magazine discussed sex slaves to lure new recruits. This was part of a military strategy against Yazidi s ultimately aimed at eliminating them together.
The fact that the peace laureates came from two different nations underlines that this problem has been widespread, from Rwanda to Myanmar . And the fact that the prize is shared by a man and woman underlines that both sexes have been victims, and both must work together to end the use of rape as a weapon of war.

Last report to the United Nations Security Council from 23 March 2018 on conflict related sexual violence. The secretary General expresses a renewed and deep concern over the use of sexual violence by violent extremist group. The report documents that sexual violence is used as recruitment strategy to extremist groups. it is used as a way to terrorize population and making them flee, it is directly ordered in military, Sexual violence is part of conservative sexual ideologies against woman and sexual minorities, ISIL, and BOKO HARAM s use of sexual violence against young girl are examples of this new and intensified use of sexual violence. Committing acts of sexual violence is cheap and has detrimental effects. Conflict related sexual violence is a societal problem and military weapon. Nadia Murad and her experience as a sexual slave to ISIS demonstrated all too clearly that despite intensified efforts to combat conflict related sexual violence.
