Not everything works out the way you plan for it too. When things good wrong what to do? We had a plan for getting a truck and it fell through, the guy we knew bought a new truck and was going to sell us his other truck on payments. It did not work out as the motor blew in the truck he was going to sell us. So I have been doing some thinking, I know that is never good, am I going to have to power down to get a truck. That is been my thoughts of late and I do not want to do that at all. It is to hard to build it back up and it is hard enough to have the power to vote on your posts. The problem still is we still need a truck.
We have a minivan that I have been using as a truck for a while now and it does work but it really takes a toll on the minivan. It is hard on them as we have found out from using my wife's minivan as a truck and blew the motor. It even had a towing package on it but it was still too much for it. As you see here we used it to go get some mulch and it was 40 miles away one way.
Yesterday we went in to get some other stuff for the garden and we put it in the back of the van. We could not take the trailer as we had some really tight areas to get in and out of for this trip to town. As we start building the AirCrete houses we are going to be hauling bags of portland cement and that is really heavy stuff. The van is the only mode of transport right now as, like I said, our other minivan has a blown motor. We do not want that to happen with this one.
So with all this being said, I am not going to power down to get a truck I am going to start saving SBD from my posts for a truck. I am not going to be able to power up as fast as I want to but it will save me from fighting to power back up. I really need your help with this, as all of you know voting on a post is what brings in SBD and SP as I use the 50/50 on my posts. I need your upvotes and resteems for this post and all of my posts. If you want to help more you can send SBD to our wallet, I will be doing updates on this as time goes on. From @basicstoliving to you, thank you for supporting our blog here on Steemit. I appreciate all you do for our little homestead. Have a great day/night, whatever it is in your neck of the woods. Steem On!
It's a balancing act. I've been powering down to pay bills, but have been doing so as slowly as I can. So far it's working okay. I actually paused it this week to maintain my Voting Power level.
Vehicle issues are always a p.i.t.a. to deal with. I don't know if it would help, but we used Carfax when I needed new wheels quick. The best part is you can check if there have been any issues in the history - like accidents. Best of luck getting the right one for your needs!
Yes, the issues with vehicles are a P.I.T.A more so when getting the stuff you need for building your homestead. I am always balancing everything and sometimes the balance goes the wrong way, at least it did this time. It will all work out in the end I hope, never give up, never quit, just keep moving forward. I will keep Carfax in mind. Thanks!
Yup - forward is really the only option! Hope it gets all sorted out soon for you.
I think that's a good plan! Once I hit 500 SP I felt like I could use anything else after that (SBD and even SP if necessary) to go toward whatever I needed on the homestead. It has helped in us going to purchase a prefab shed to modify into a nice coop. Good luck to you!
Thank You! I am hoping this will work out like we need it too. A truck will be a big help to us.
Here is hoping you can get that truck sooner rather than later!
Thank You! I hope sooner too.
Yeah, that's the problem with minivans. They aren't good for cargo. I'd suggest a good ole jeep. You can get them for cheap and they haul like crazy. They are also easy to maintain. If your roads are mostly dirt, you could do your hauling with a tractor. They have better horsepower and are actually set up to haul.
Right now I need a truck to haul material and other stuff we need for building, pulling our trailer, etc. I will be getting a tractor later as I will need a truck to haul it home with.
