RE: Let's Fight our Depression

in #life7 years ago

You've done a brave thing, bringing this to the attention of the community.

Depression is seldom openly talked about, particularly in work life. It's a lot more common than some people might expect, but there are things that we can do about it.

The 3 Pillars of Depression... the short version...

Depression is commonly underpinned by 3 emotions or ways of responding to life.

1). Guilt - Past time orientation
2). Anger - Present moment time orientation
3). Anxiety - Future time orientation

Resolving Guilt and Anger can have a huge effect on a person's depression, as can exercise, and the colours of their thoughts too.

All the best

You said about Three Pillars of Depression but I think Shame could be one more Pillar as many People don't come out in the Open and say that they are Depressed simply because they are Ashamed what the Society will think about Him/her.

You make a really good point @arunava :O)

Shame is Guilt+ and by that I mean... Shame is Guilt ( I feel bad about having broke the social rules as I see them applying to me ) + the element of being observed.

Very similar, but slightly different.

Shame is a big part of why people aren't open about their issues.

We're told that we have to BE strong...

All of these are about

  • Actions
  • Identity
  • Rules ( social )

i.e. who I am being when do the action of breaking a social rule.

This is what is behind so much of it. :O)

Shame had been a Huge Part of my Life when I was in School. But thankfully I have turned over a new Leaf.

Now I do what I want when I want.

There is nothing to be ashamed of.
