Hey guys, last time I posted anything, I had told you guys that I worked at McDonald's, but what I didn't tell you guys is that I am an opener at McDonald's. This means is that I report for work at 4 AM...yes, you read that right, 4 AM. Before anybody asks why I have to be there at 4 AM to open when McDonald's is a 24 hour store, my store is not open 24 hours anymore. Also, the stores that are open 24 hours only have drive-thru open 24 hours, the lobby is closed, meaning that the next shift to come in would have to prepare the lobby for the next business day. Since I am an opener does this mean that I go in and cook all by myself while making all the coffee's and stuff before the store opens?
No, that is impractical, and impossible in my personal opinion, because we report for work at 4 AM and have to have the store ready for business by 5 AM. That is one hour, there is no way that one, or even two, people can have the whole store ready in an hour. So how many people report in the morning? At my store, three. One for the kitchen, one for managerial and administrative duties, and one for everything else, which is me.
My job every morning is to make sure that all of your sweet and unsweet tea's are brewed, as well as your iced coffee. I am also responsible for preparing the soda station, making sure that there is ketchup, napkins, straws, lids, trash cans, everything. I am also the person responsible for baking your pies and cookies this way those early birds with a sweet tooth can get something when the get their morning coffee fix.
Lastly, I am responsible for making sure that we have clean towels, as well as buckets to put the dirty towels in, out and ready for use so that we can keep our restaurant in a clean condition at any time......with room for human error at the ungodly hour of 5 AM that only people who HAVE to be up are up AND driving. I mean lets be honest, if I didn't have to open at 4 AM, I would sleep in to like 6 or 7, and yes, that is sleeping in for me.
Bless you. I had no idea that there was a 4AM.
