I'm an avid reader and I've just ended 2017 with the book I believe you should start 2018 with.
It's an apocalyptical end-of-world fiction novel that won't let you go for 900+ pages. It's a very fun read and totally relevant to today's nuclear weapon centered rhetoric.
So, for all you readers out there, get yourself: Swan Song, by Robert McCammon.
The characters are well developed, the action non-stop, the battle between good and evil epic.
Happy reading and don't hesitate to share your favorite books so that I can also start 2018 with something good.
Steem on!

Bravo for lapping up such a big book during holiday season! Would you recommend this read for someone who is not a big reader? I can get absorbed in a book if the story is right, but some are easier than others to dive into.
Thanks for the book recommendation. I will add it to my list of books to read - which unfortunately is a bit over stretched, but then I could have worse problems I suppose :)
Happy to get recommendations from you in the future - I've followed you as I see you have similar literary inclinations!
Likewise - I look forward to your recommendations also.
