God's voice is silent. Speech is part of our daily life. Is it necessary for us to talk all the time?
Bible states there is a time to speak and time to be quite. God is silence, and this divine silence dwells in man.
Maintaining silence when others are speaking is a mark of respect. It is important to cultivate silence to be truly with God. Talking less is not ones weakness but fear of others of ones silence. Silence is the strenght and peace within our ownself. Controlling our tongue to keep quiet about a confidential matter gives evidence of discretion and discernment. Restraining our tongue when we are provoked is the course of wisdom.
On the other hand, the Bible also says that there is “a time to speak.” When you receive a gift from a friend, you would probably not store it out of sight. Instead, you would show your appreciation by putting it to good use. We should show our gratitude for God’s gift of speech by using it wisely. That might include expressing our feelings, communicating our needs, sharing words of encouragement, and giving God praise.
Let us be wise and learn to use our speech at the right time. Let us use our speech to praise our God.
