Translation of the interview on Radio One :: 14th November 2018
Interviewer - Mr. Prem Rawat .... He is the global Ambassador for Peace, he is also the Founder of The Prem Rawat Foundation, he has also written a book called, Splitting the Arrow; Understanding the Business of Life, plus he has several other passions.
So please tell me how your passions help you to be in peace?
Mr. Prem Rawat - Nope, passions are my hobbies and they are not related to peace because sometimes you can get frustrated in doing those things. It is a simple analogy, like a lotus resides in the dirty water but itself does not get dirty. The problems that we are facing right now were bothering someone else before us. So it is like a fly that was bothering someone else before us and now it is bothering us and after us it will bother someone else, because the problems are the same but you have got the opportunity, what does this mean for you? You have this breath coming and going into you and if you don't have appreciation for this, you are really missing a big party.
Interviewer - I would love to know if you have been here (Pune) before and what you think of the city?
Mr. Prem Rawat – Yes, I have been to Pune couple of times, it’s a beautiful place and I like being there. I came to Pune earlier for the events and speak about peace. People there invited me and I liked the people as they reflect the situation here. It can be crowded sometimes but between all that Pune is a beautiful and historic city and I love that.
Interviewer - Yes absolutely and you have been here couple of times and I guess that is why It’s so peaceful out here in Pune and we would love to have you here soon.
Please tell us more about The Prem Rawat Foundation.
Mr. Prem Rawat - In this world billions of dollars are spend on charities, people care and have good in them and that's the reason they donate but what is actually happening is that despite of so many charities around people are still hungry. so when we noticed this we realized that when people are given food it is given in such a way that they are not used to have that food.
There is a place in Ranchi (India) where I noticed that children were so hungry and the situation was so bad that when I asked someone about it he said the situation here is so bad that children steal food from rat's nest just to feed themselves.
So we started an initiative called Food For People where one could get easy access to clean food and also helped them in teaching about cleanliness and the children when they learned about it, it reflected in their overall health and for the first time those kids cleared their high schools and were able to graduate from the universities.
Interviewer: That is so commendable. Please tell us something about "Business of Life"
Mr. Prem Rawat - Yes, the biggest thing in life here is we are bargaining things for something that is very valuable, the breath that comes into us we sacrifice it for the dreams that we have made for ourselves and there will be a time when the coming and going of this breath will not continue and so what will we do then. So the business that we are currently doing is what we need to change and do a business that is really profitable to us and not just profitable to the mind but a business that is profitable to the “Heart.” We in our life should realize that we should be thankful for the life we have and nothing is more valuable than this.so if we get involved in this business of life there will be huge profits of joy, of happiness and of peace.
Interviewer - This is so Amazing….
Let's move to something that is more current, that is more trending, Generally you talk about humanity. women issues do occur, so the #me too movement is trending in India right now so what are your views on that?
Mr. Prem Rawat - I thought a lot about it that the country like India where a lot of people believe in Durga, Kali and so many goddess and so many of them have manifestation of a women. In a culture and a country and a civilization like that where there should be respect for one another where did it go, where did it disappear? Why do men treat women in such a way without respect how did this happen? There is no man in this world who has been born from a tree. Every human being who is alive is born from a person who nurtured it in her womb for nine months, so in this society, why don't we respect each other. This is happening because there is no respect and we need to realize about our goodness. There can be situation where one cannot give food to other human, cannot give money, but every human can give respect to their fellow human.
Interviewer - Absolutely, rich or poor and even if you are unable to give anything, everyone is able to give respect.
So moving ahead ….
Please tell me with title there comes the pressure so even you are given a title, you are the Brand Ambassador of Peace, so does this title gives you peace?
Mr. Prem Rawat - I tell this to everyone, every human being who is on the face of this earth they are all Global Peace Ambassadors, we need to understand this. And the responsibility that comes with this is we need to understand "ourself" and understand who we actually are and everything that is happening outside is happening and this distinction is the biggest thing.
And if we truly want to understand ourself in this life that is a different thing and there a privilege with this title and not a pressure with it and everyone is the peace ambassador and everybody on this earth is fortunate like it is said "no one is ignorant in this world there resides knowledge in the heart but if one forgets to look in the heart he remains ignorant all his life."
Interviewer - Beautifully explained.
Whenever we start pursuing our passion, or talking something very passionately it is generally from a experience that has happened with us in life. Is it the same thing with you, has anything happened to you for the reason you believe in peace so much?
Mr. Prem Rawat - I used to tell people about peace when I was four years old and when I was nine years old when my father passed away I took this responsibility from him and when I was thirteen years old I went abroad and since then I have been addressing people that "What you are looking for is inside of you." Understand and know what peace is. Peace is not Aladdin’s lamp that you will rub it and wish for peace and you will have it.
The message of peace is with us for centuries we need to know it and understand it that is when there will be peace in our life and it will make our life good. There are somethings that are innate for us and that is thirst for this peace and the excitement for this peace so we need to understand this.
Interviewer - Every day we keep on fighting with the competition we have in our life, how do we deal with it so we have peace?
Mr. Prem Rawat - Everyone in life wants to experience that he/she is important in some or the other way. The person may be rich or poor, educated or illiterate, they want to experience that they have some importance in life. social media is a platform where people experience things because they belong to that platform where they can express their opinion and by expressing their opinion, they experience that they are important. One should experience their importance from within not by the views of people from outside, not from approvals and disapprovals and what happens is when people face disapproval on social media they feel very bad about it and due to this many have committed suicide. So you can be agitated by any reason and when you are agitated you need to think about the coming and going of this breath, we might not be able to focus on it when we are agitated but we need to understand even during the bad times and the good times in life there is a grace that is on each one of us and we should know about it.
Man is running for things that are outside in his life and is running away from himself and the thing that I talk about is man should stop for a minute and think how should I run towards self, to see the potential within, towards the thing that resides in the heart, how do I reach there?
Because there is where true peace resides. We think that when we will be successful there will be peace, but the ladder for success is like when you climb two steps, ahead you see two more and when you climb two more you see some more, so you just keep on climbing without realizing are we successful or not?
We have success within us; this does not mean we should not be successful in the life outside. but if you want peace you should look for the thing that resides within you.
