What a place this beautiful city is. It really makes you sit back and appreciate the simple things that are offered to us on a daily basis. The sights, the sounds and all of the amazing smells... it doesn't matter if your five or fifty-five; the sensory overload that we are afforded daily is surely something that should be mervelled at.
When I stood looking at that sunrise, it reminded me of all the important things that we sometimes take for granted. The places we go; for example I have this amazing little coffee shop that I like to visit near where I work. I drive in and park on the street and as soon as I step out of the door I am instantly greeted with the aroma of freshly roasted and ground coffee. How does something so simple offer so much pleasure.
Then there are the connections. I got to work and went about my morning as per normal. An email popped up in my inbox from a teacher friend of mine whom I haven't spoken to for a long while. Instead of replying to the email I picked up my phone and gave her a call to mainly say hello. We organised a coffee date and I can't wait to see her... ah the simple things.
The connections go well beyond the workplace... sometimes you just get so busy you don't forget the important people but you do however keep pushing them further and furthern back on your list of priorities. For me it happens too often and this is where I really need to start managing my life better. I have an amazing cirlce of people who have helped me get to where I am today. I am so thankful for every one of them... what I need to do though is make this known. I need to make them feel appreciated, that they are a special and necessary part of my life. Ultimately I need to learn to let them know I need them.
I have come to realise that while sunrises will come and go, the smell of coffee will sometimes come a little bit burnt and that life can get so busy you push aside those who helped get you to where you are...
I urge you to stop for a moment, think about those people and let them know somehow that they mean the world to you, that you love them and that you need them in your life... for if you fail to do this one day the sunrise won't look as beautiful because a little part of you is missing and you may never be able to get it back.
Remember what's important!
