Hello, Steemit. I was so proud when firstly found this platform where everybody can contribute by posting and get "new type of rewards" from it. It is different from any other writing platforms that I have joined. Hence, those differences will motivate me to explore more about Steemit and to learn how digital assets in here work. Firstly, let me introduce myself.
My name is Billy Halim. Just call me Billy. I am 20 years old and live in Medan, Indonesia since 1997. I'm a 3rd-year Computer Science student at University of Sumatera Utara, Medan. Discovering this platform is a good karma for me because it is already a long time that Writing is my hobby, my passion, and my path. I like to write everything or topics that attract me. I have been writing on many platforms such as Medium, Kaskus (Indonesia's largest Forum), Brilio, Hipwee, and Ruang Mahasiswa (Indonesia's College Student media). The last four platforms are Indonesia's. I'm also a Blogger and I have my own blog. I'm not too active writing on my own blog instead of writing on mentioned platforms above. However, by having a blog, I can learn what is SEO (Search Engine Optimization), keyword, description, backlink, and Ads for promoting my blog and monetize from it. Writing always walks with me everywhere I go.
Having only one hobby or passion seems not good in millenial era. Long before I decided to take Computer Science degree, I found another passion, that is, web development. I started to learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript. The more I learned, the more I felt comfortable with those things. It is called Front-End Web Development. Until now, I have accepted many web development projects like creating company profile website. Dealing with User Interface and User Experience of a website is unavoidable. Front-End Web Development is the second after writing. Anyway, you can see my personal profile here.
Dealing with UI/UX made me fall into a field called Graphic Design. I'm happy that I can design a logo, flyer, poster, banner, business card for clients or organization's events. Although my design is always simple, I always struggle to fulfill my clients' needs and tastes. I don't use Photoshop or Illustrator for design because it is not originally free. Instead, I use Inkscape for design and GIMP for image editing. I like to use originally free software.
So, I have 3 passions. Actually 4, it was not impossible for me to have writing hobby if I didn't like reading. Reading really helps me with writing. With reading, I can easily find ideas to write what I like write.
Overall, I would like use my passions to help others, to share with others, to motivate others, and to inspire others. Especially for my country, Indonesia, I like John Kennedy's quote that states "..... ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country". To be a good person in society is my life's vision. Produce creation, not only money is my life's mission.
I think the words above are enough for describing myself. I expect to give the best to the communities in Steemit and I hope folks in here can support me to contribute to Steemit. That's all.
