Practice. Time. Confidence.
We are going to discuss flirting in a real world situation and not a technology based one. The online dating scene is a bit too sleazy to put so much thought into it anyways.
The secret is knowing what works over TIME, PRACTICING the art and having the CONFIDENCE to try it out at the right time.
Step 1
Step 1 is look at their hands. If there's a ring, step away, if there is someone else's hand in theirs, step away. Gentlemen, put on your bow ties on and respect others; flirting is a gentleman's art. Put on your eye patch, Captain, and go look for an unmanned ship arrrrrr
Step 2
Eye contact...and get caught! Keep glancing at their direction, but do not stare!! creep! If you are successful at getting caught, just give a smirk, smile or even a head nod to acknowledge the eye contact and get along with your business. No need to stare or try to jump the train, gentleman, coz that's exactly what a creep would do. Keep it subtle. The 2nd time you catch their eye again is when you smile and approach...coz it's game on! They, too, are interested to have regular eye contact which means they are open to conversation, playboy!!Step 3
WALK UP and INTRODUCE Be confident, walk like an alpha. Steady and strong, like a lion; not too fast not too slow. None of that pimp limp please. At this point you will die inside. You will be nervous, but the key is to be prepared. Practice introducing yourself within 6 words in the mirror, and repeat it in front of the hottie as if you were talking to a mirror. That's clearing the immigration, the rest just get's easier.
Be prepared for follow up questions or statements. Personally, follow up with a compliment. Compliment works like magic! Everybody loves them. Try to be bold and confident, and not of a sexual nature
(Complimenting is serious business, too. DO NOT BE CREEPY COMPLIMENT-Y, we will discuss this next week.)
Step 4
THE EXIT. Flirting is like the Fairy Godmother's charm, it has a time limit. Understanding when not to wear out the charm comes with understanding the venue, and with time and practice. If you think you will see them again (not by chance), cut the conversation off, ASAP and leave; pick it up when you meet again. But if you aren't going to see your crush again, TEST YOUR FATE. ASK FOR THE DIGITS. What's the worst that's gonna happen? A no? Good. After the first "no", you are just gonna get more confident and ready. You will break a barrier that will set you free of fear and enable you to be more open to such situations.
But if it is a no just leave...
Trying too hard, and being too clingy after the first "no" is absolutely dull and boring and unsexy and ungentleman-like and un-everything. Do not seem desperate, save your energy for the next run of flirting for some other day, gentlemen.
ADDITIONAL POINTERS: Practice smirking, maintaining eye contact, good hygiene, and keeping calm.
That's one more blind spot from Blind's pot.

it is both a science and an art form. You covered both the science and the art of it in your post. I enjoyed reading it.
This is a favorite and made me smile 😊
Many great points in here and I certainly admit that I'm a shy person and unsecured about flirting.. But I love to smile and have fun so for me a smile and eyes are the first thing I notice... before I walk away to shy to try 😂😂hahaha
