Dealing with too many fucking ideas

in #life7 years ago

Good morning everyone -.-

Waking up with 100 new ideas

I just woke up on a Sunday morning @6am (with no alarm #*@!) and my head has already started spinning:

"I could write something on Steemit"
"let's check my crypto currency portfolio"
"Maybe I should go to the gym in the morning today, before I have breakfast to burn more calories"
"I need to order the new Nintendo Switch to play Mario Cart with my friends again"
"The weather sucks, let me check some surf spots for a holiday"
"Wouldn't it be great to start a Steem app myself"
"I will continue reading this book about Leonardo Da Vinci"
"... Leonardo?! Isn't that the leader of the Ninja Turtles"
"I should just turn around and get some more sleep"
"Buying Bitcoin is expensive now compared to last year. But maybe next year it will be worth 10 times as much"
"Tomorrow I have to go to my boring job again. I need a new one"

My real life and how friends and family react

This goes on and on and on... Some people call it a gift to have a lot of interests, dealing with it feels more like a curse.
In an ideal world without the constant requirement of resources/ money. I would do and be someone/ something different every few month. Just like kids dream when they are not messed up by "real life". Just like that:

My friends and family often complain:
"You always talk about these things, but you never finish anything"
On the other hand side they admire me somehow:
"I wish I could be interested in new things like you. I will do the same boring stuff everyday for the rest of my life"
-.- Either way that does not help me at all!

You don't have to choose ...wait what?

Last year I came across and audio book by Barbara Sher with the title:

What Do I Do When I Want to Do Everything?

This spoke to me directly and I needed to take a look into it.
Long story story short and not spoiling anything. This book changed my view about myself and how to deal with my thousands of ideas and how to execute (at least a few of them^^).

There is even a name for people like that, they call them "Scanner Personality".
You are also introduced into the concept of several layers of being gifted.
There is not only the intellectual dimension, but also emotional, social, musical, etc. ...

My key take aways and live projects

My key takes from this experience are:

  1. I have started my my own personal notebook (1 online and 1 offline, so actually = 2), where I write down all my ideas and further developments of them
  2. I accepted the fact that I am a little bit gifted, partially cursed, maybe a little crazy and never boring^^
  3. The idea itself is worth nothing, therefore I execute. (I used to overthink and over plan and finally forget about the idea without implementing anything)

My implemented projects at the moment are not perfect, but live and developing:

  • I quit my job and work as a freelance IT/ business consultant
  • Managing my personal crypto currency portfolio (12 different coins + 3 ICOs)
  • writing on my blog (Steemit^^)
  • traveling around the world (since 2016: Spain, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Bulgaria, next on the list: Dubai) not a full time nomad yet^^
  • founding a blockchain startup (business & IT consulting and development as a hybrid)

I still have to work on some parts here and there but doing quite well I think.

I think I have a scanner personality, I'm going to order that book

I hope it helps you to channel your talents =)

You sound like me and I somehow believe that it has to do more with the timing. It is no accident that you found that book recently or months back. I had similar experiences and was always called complex, crazy, interesting, etc. Do you think you are an Indigo adult?
Damn just read another thing Blockchain enthusiast haha...thats on my facebook about page..CLONE :D..But awesome article I could really resonate with it

Maybe there is something about timing. Either way it helped a lot to understand and accept myself and deal with my stuff. I heard a little bit about "indigo", but not quite sure what it is, so googled it and must say I find myself in every word^^

thats what I thought :) because it completely resonates with me too. Bist aus Deutschland sehe ich gerade :))

Ja bin ich^^

sehr cool, bin aus Wien .

Darf ich mich anschließen? Gleiches Problem und komme auch aus Deutschland 😂

wish i could wake up with 100 new ideas lol 👊

yeah like i said, the gift & the curse -.-

This only mean that you're a productive person. Won't let time pass by without doing something.

this might be true. but one problem that scanners have is that they havs too many ideas every day and lose oversight and never get into productive mode, so thats also one of the issues I wanted to address here.

You need to take it slow, address ideas one at a time.

good advice. at least i started using a calendar and realized that the world is not ending in one week ;)

well written, have the same issue almost every night :-)

what is your medicine to deal with it?

Augustiner

That's a really cool (and true) message!
If I were you I'd got with that one first:

"The weather sucks, let me check some surf spots for a holiday"

:-)

But seriously talking, I know exactly what you are talking about. Days should have some more hours sometimes.

The key is priorization. Then you don't start with something that you won't finish in the end. So pick your favorite one and then do it well. Too many open projects may also cause some confusion and that typical sensation of not knowing where to begin... From a psychological point of view it's always better to not dance on too many parties at the same time :-)

Upped and following!

PS: Please excuse the XXL comment...

great comment. thank you.

i learned surfing in San Diego @SDSU during my semester abroad. ever since I always have my workplace to far away from any beach or waves. the plan is to change that more into a nomad lifestyle

and yes time and prio is the key =)

You are welcome!
Oh San Diego, nice. Nomad lifestyle sounds interesting. When you are flexible when it comes to work, it's surely the best thing you can do :-)

I relate to this mindset so much @blocklab
Thanx for sharing this ..will checkout the book
Keeping a journal is so much interesting & effective
*i wish i am able to quit my limiting job soon😄

Hope reading the book and adjusting the view about yourself will enable you to set you free.

... and the rising Steem price.
"Sorry boss, but my Steem just multiplied by 100 and I dont need your shitty paycheck anymore"

@blocklab
Lolz haha yeah
I have been helping people make money from money all these years , i guess its now time i make some money for myself 😃😄😎
