There is a bill that failed to pass in NM Sate congress. It would have been an expansion to an existing state law that sends a murderer of a child ages 0 - 11 years to prison for life. The expansion would have sent murders of youth ages 0 - 18 years to prison for life. The state of New Mexico did away with the death penalty in 2009. The highest punishment in the state is life without parole.
Why is it that it isn’t an automatic life sentence when a murder kills? Shouldn’t be life for a life? What makes some lives more special than others? I think it shouldn’t matter what age a person was when they were murdered. If you take a life you should go away for life. All life is special.
