Solar Panel from Aki Bekas, a brilliant recycling idea that has been successfully applied. Almost all types of used batteries, including batteries, have hazardous chemicals that have the potential to threaten environmental sustainability. Fortunately, scientists from MIT University (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) managed to find one of the best ways to recycle these used batteries.
The brilliant recycling idea that MIT has successfully implemented is to convert the former batteries into superior quality solar panels. They found a way to utilize a substance named 'perovskite' inside the battery to create a new type of solar panel coating.
The effort that MIT researchers have been doing for 2 years has shown brilliant results. The Solar Panels from the second battery they produce from perovskite are capable of generating 19 percent more energy efficiently than ordinary solar panels. And with a thinner size, perovskite solar panels can be easily installed in homes.
MIT claims a single used battery can be used to make some perovskite solar panels capable of generating electricity for 30 homes. The price tagged for this type of solar panel is also cheaper because MIT researchers also successfully found an easy way to make solar panels from perovskite.
Until now, used batteries are still the biggest environmental issue in America. This can not be separated from the number of used batteries that reach 200 million pieces throughout Uncle Sam's country.
