Should we be depressed and make ourselves lost, no we can't be depressed, sad or troubled with our emotions and also lost it(common sense).
Sometimes news go up here and there that people are facing depression and finding suicide as their last bus-stop or seeing it as a solution to me it like an abuse to guiders, counselors, therapist etc, these people I mentioned are out there professionals to help and positively impact on our lives, if you can't consult any of them think about inspirational musics, inspirational or motivational books.
Good music or inspirational books can cure your heart or repair your sense of thinking on how to handle depression or life it self.
Friends, friends go a long way, friends can make or mar you, they can be the reason for your depression and they can be the solution to your problems so select your friends carefully.
Society or environment has its own contribution, they say that it takes a nation to build a child, so it does that your environment has its own impact.
Find what is good for you or how easy it can be for you to face and deal with depression and hold on to that solution when you find yourself in that situation (depression).
