I think your comment highlighted my "I don't get it" part. The point of steem is to profit off of bragging rights from followers and votes. My blogging isn't about anything more than me commenting on life, and profiting off of that has not drive for me. I got the fruits of my labor from just posting.
The real question then, is steemit feeding my motivation more than feeding my resistance.
We are told that people act by pain and pleasure. Many act by the promise of either alone. So with that in mind, my pleasure is just documenting my thoughts and moving on. Many times to never look back again.
That is why I pay for a blog with no advertisers. I have gotten what I wanted to get out of my blogging, which is a friendly way to post my thoughts. If it feels like work to post, then I become demotivated. And that seems to be the core of my "not getting it". Using Steemit seems too much like work, but without the benefit.
