Simply put, we care about too many things that don’t even matter. We care about the political climate, we care about how we are perceived, we care about stupid TV shows and sports way to much! The only reason any of these things have any type of impact on us is because we allow them to.
The conversations I hear are constant arguments about some of the dumbest things imaginable. Don’t get me wrong I love sports too but years ago I decided that I would not let watching a tv screen for 3 hours get in the way of what I’m trying to accomplish. At the end of the day, why do I even care so much about the outcome? Another game will be played and a new season will start.
Our Real Problems
An author once said that in America, we have an abundance of food, clothing, and shelter so we no longer have to deal with a material crisis. Over time we have acquired so much stuff that the problems that remain are now spiritual. There is so much stuff and opportunities in our lives that we simply don’t even know what to care about anymore.
I believe the way to solve these problems are to stop caring about so many things, notice I didn’t say everything. We only have so much of our attention that we can give. We have to learn to focus on the things that matter to us most.
Find Out What You Care About Most
Quick Exercise: If you were laying on your death bed and going to die the next day, what would be some of the things you wish you could do one last time??
The answers to that question are what you care about the most!
Spending time with family, saying I love you one last time, giving another hug are just a few of my answers.
If we know that our time on earth is limited, then why don’t we act like it? Why do we wait until something extreme happens before we start realizing what is important again?
The reality is that you and me will one day die. We already know that our time is limited so we don’t need some major event to remind us of that. Let’s stop giving a f@$k about what don’t matter, and start giving a f@$k about what does.
Till next time Steemians...Steem On!!!

You couldn't say it better. So many of us are hung up on gossips, what others think of us and similar nonsense which doesn't even make sense. We want to impress people when at the end, we aren't impressed by ourselves and we never feel "good enough." I think that we seek spirituality and personal development more these days because we are beginning to understand how much value has the power of mind. I love the part where you use the exercise. Probably the quickest way how to find out what it really important to us.
