Commonly we start to think about our families, pets, and many other things (even our crush :$) when we get to our jobs and easily miss the point. The first five minutes at the the office after greeting our partners, we turn on our computers and set our bag in our desk. Inmediately, we take the coffee cup to fill it at the kitchen and then, sit before our desks to remember what we left unfinished the day before. The same pattern is repeated if we work at home and in pajamas with the exception that we don't even interact with anyone else, except if we have kids, pets and a husband (oh, I almost forget about HIM... hahaha just kidding).
But what I mean to express is that we are too prone to waste most of our valious time in the social networks, texting to our friends and neighbours, beeing in touch with the last news in politics, the weather, cinema listings, sport matchs, appointments to the hairdresser, what we have to do for lunch and dinner and so on. Suddenly, is too frequent for us to miss the point and stop being productive in our jobs.
So, here I present to you 5 things to consider if you want to give your best at day job:
1.- Organize you daily taks.
In order to finish the pending job you have, is important that you write in a small paper sheet that you could leave in your desk and next to you, all your pending taks. If you need to call clients or customers, if you need to sent a list of mails, write an inform, fill any form, everything you need to do must be in this improvised inventory of tasks and when you finish every pending taks, just cross it out the list. Is that simple. Some people use to call this Agenda (sarcasm).
2.- Limit the ammount of time you spend in social networks.
Yeah, I know this is something wich is extremely HARD to do. But if you don't do it, you will never achieve your goal wich is to pay more at work. You must limit the music downloads, the time you spend stalking your crush on Facebook and dedicate to finish your job, even stablishing some break times and try to respect them as much as you can. Something that really works is to set your smarphone on "silence" and leave it in your bag to avoid looking at it every five minutes. And yes, a very strategic and extreme action is to delete this apps from your mobile phone.
3.- Try to leave it all in order at home and leave your kids at school before you start your workday.
Prepare all the ingredients for breakfast and lunch since the late evening. It is always helpful to find all things in place and ready to use them when you need to cook and prepare your children's lunch box. Once you finish everything, take them to school (unless your husband does it for you) and start your work with a big smile and let's do it.
4.- Set schedules for every task.
Well, we already discussed about this topic in the step no. 1. A very important way to respect your agenda is to stablish schedules for every task. You can't spend too much time solving something you could finish in about half an hour, maybe because you got distracted, or you are not using good methods to be more efficient. And don't forget to make or pick up unnecesary calls.
5.- A keyword you need to consider is: habit.
Creating good habits will help you go to bed and then wake up at the right hour feeling great, and start your workday with a lot of energy and good vibes. In order to make this happen is a good idea to have a balanced diet, drink a lot of water and take advantage of every minute you make for doing your work.
