Why do we attract creepy places? Visiting a place that gives you the creeps is like living a horror movie. The Huffington Post has made a top of the scariest places in the world.
The stories that or behind these bizarre places have a varied theme: Religion, politics, archaeology. In Amsterdam, for example, there is a museum of torture depicting instruments produced by human cruelty, according to HuffingtonPost.com.
In the Czech Republic, for example, a few dozen minutes ' walk outside Prague, there is a Gothic 15th-century church decorated with approximately 40,000 human bones.
In San Jose, California, the descendant of the Wichester family built a house designed to appease the spirits of those killed by the famous manufacturer's weapons. It is said that at least three dwell spirits in this House-maze with 160 rooms and 2,000 doors. The winding corridors and stairs that lead nowhere were probably meant to mislead the spirits.

Manchac Swamp, Louisiana
Here you will not encounter vampires or beings that change form, but many alligators. It is said that the Manchac swamp Night is populated by beings such as Voodoo Princess Julie White and the werewolf Raougarou.
The tree used for the gallows and the Frenier cemetery are two other places haunted in this area.
Tuol Sleng – Cambodia Museum of Genocide
Crates filled with human bones and a mass of torture are among the terrifying exhibits of the former prison 21 in Phnom Penh.
The collections here represent a tribute to the 17,000 people imprisoned during the terror regime led by the Khmer Rouge (1975-1979).
After being interrogated and tortured, many prisoners were then taken to the extermination centre Choeung Ek.

Hotel Stanley in Colorado
The famous writer Stephen King spent a weekend at this hotel in 1973. The dreads of walking through the hotel almost desolate inspired him to write "The shining" novel.
An adaptation for the great screen of the novel is running, nowadays, in guest rooms. Estes Park Hotel has frightened guests like Stephen King for over a century. "Paranormal Residents" is a man playing piano and some kids doing pranks on the fourth floor.
Isla de las Muñecas, Mexico
This can be considered the real Mexican version of the "The Ring" movie. "Puppet Island" was created by a peasant haunted by the memory of a little girl whose body was brought to the shores of her island by the waters of Lake Xochimilco, near Mexico City.
To reconcile its spirit, but also those of other dead children, the peasant eager to escape the nightmares gathered hundreds of old dolls, some lacking their eyes, others limbs or even the head. They were hung by trees and linked with wires, around the island.
Pripyat in Ukraine
Evacuated after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986, this city in northern Ukraine is the largest ghost town in the world.
Around 50,000 people lived here before the explosion. Today, the housing blocks, schools, hospitals and amusement parks are deserted.
Specialists believe it takes at least 20,000 years for the area to be resided safely again.
Laguna Truk, from Micronesia
Sixty Japanese warships and 275 planes lie at the bottom of the turquoise Lagoon, being the largest marine cemetery in the world and one of the most fascinating underwater attractions.
Immersed during a daring action by Americans in 1944, this Phantom fleet is a haven for divers. But not for the faint of heart, because they say that over 3000 sailors who perished with the fleet are still haunting the remains of the water bottom.
Catacombs of Paris
The capital of France offers three haunted underground places. First, the catacombs filled with skeletons of over 6 million Frenchmen, many arranged in gruesome positions.
Then, for enthusiasts who are not afraid of rodents, there is the sewer, 700 years old. Last but not least, the city's underground stone careers can be explored in informal tours (more specifically, illegal).
