Are we living in a world which is simulated by the members of advanced civilizations who has enormous computing powers of their ancestors?According to Nick Bostrum, an Oxford University philosopher,the world may not be real.It could be a virtual world or universe where all the realities that we are seeing around is simulated through a computer programme, and every characters like you and me and also the other things in this cosmos is inside some giant computer game.
Well, it sounds very familiar with the plot of Hollywood flick "The Matrix" which also shows the world as a computer programme. Although there is no experimental proof but the concept of simulation has got some serious support by entrepreneurs like Alan Musk and scientists like Stephen Hawking as it has been seen that the more we have tried to know about our universe we found that it is based on mathematical calculations which further provide boost to the theory of virtual world,that it could be one of the possibility.
So,we all are living a simulated life by some advanced civilization about which we have no idea.We are like characters which we see in video games.There could be many more world like us which might have been simulated like ours world as the advance civilization have enormous computing powers and of their many simulations we are one of them.And it might be possible that they themselves could be the result of some simulations and it could continue further like that till the master simulator.
This concept or more appropriately hypothetical concept of simulation gives a whole new approach about our life and universe.The virtual world is actually possible and it could not be denied.Within last 80 years , we human beings have made so much advancement that today our computers can do programming at a speed of 27 trillion times more than our first ever programming computer which was ZEUS Z1 ,whose programming speed was 2 blocks/sec.Think about those civilization who might have lived way before us,if we humans can make such advancements in our life,how much more advance they could be compared to what we are now. They could easily reached to that position where they would have made such computers of enormous power which could do things like simulations and if it is hard to accept that simulation hypothesis could be true than it is hard to deny or write it off as well.
Maybe, after 200 or 300 years or may be more, we could also be able to create such simulations,may be we would be able to generate that much enormous computing power which could simulate an 80 years of average life span of human being.We are already creating virtual world in the video games and using simulations for knowing about environmental conditions like temperature,pressure and so on of other planets.
Well, whatever maybe, whether we are real or simply a virtual characters like in video games, maybe we are creation of God or maybe some civilizations have simulated us like a computer programme,it hardly will make any difference to us as long as some substantial proof we could find or get that will really prove ,who we are and who created us.Life will go as it is going on.Yes one thing will really happen that is one day we human being will become successful
in creating our own universe and controlling it as well .Then we will have such enormous computing power that we will be able to do such simulations.And this can be said because we are really moving forward in great speed towards our technological developments.
