RE: Don't Be A Fool, Drop Out Of School! Advice To Young People On How To Live The Good Life

in #life8 years ago (edited)

I feel bad for many of the folks posting comments here that feel ripped off by an education system. I gained a ton of knowledge and social skills through both self-education and formal education. Suggesting dropping out of school is extreme to me, but this is coming from someone that wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't get a college education. That being said, I'm sure many institutions out there are cleverly designed cash grabs.

I think it depends on what you want to do. The current system almost requires a degree for STEM jobs. It shouldn't be that way, but that's how it is. If you don't want to do a STEM career though, why waste your time?

My son went straight to college at 16. He has a 14 year old in his school with him. I work with a man who's son went to college when he was 12. That dude is super smart though. My younger children will skip high school completely.
