You're right. There are actually a few initiatives that are working to solve the problem. The big problem is the unfair distribution of food. Our agriculture is so productive today that it could feed anyone on earth. There should be no hunger in the world.
Unfortunately, you can earn money with food. As long as that is the case, corporations will continue to dump food to keep market prices high.
