Distractions, that seems to be the thing we crave the most. Why? What are we running away from? Could it be ourselves? What is so bad about being bored, that you need to find stimulation at all times, the phone, the computer, music, it doesn't matter, something.
There is an old saying that promotes the idea that interesting people never get bored. I think this could be partially true, in the sense that we might not agree to what being bored is. To someone being bored might be painful, being alone with your thoughts can reveal hidden truths. To others being bored is just uncomfortable, maybe they have become addicted to stimulation.
Within the context of balance, I think being bored is a good thing. What I mean by saying this, is that having some alone time to not do anything specific, to think about life, even if its five minutes is good for us. I can't count how many times I've sat there, smoking a cigarette alone with my thoughts and that small break, that moment of "boredom" did wonders for my emotional state.
That might be the goal, it could be that simple. Being bored, being alone, being undistracted might be a valid way of achieving an emotional balance. A simpler way of quieting everything around us and asking ourselves some some questions.
If you are bored... maybe that's a good thing...
Estar aburrido? Podrá ser bueno? Para mi es mejor estar ocupado en algo que nos guste y así no nos aburrimos y estamos contentos. Agradezcamos todos los días por un nuevo día. Saludos.

Thanks for the great post.
Everything matters in life, even boredom. Solitude and loneliness help us to see the things which we can't see and realize when we are busy. This period is the perfect time for contemplation and introspection.
perfectly said @akdx , brilliantly summed up
Thank you @chbartist

The title looked somehow until I digest the articles and now made more sense to me. I'd also call that reflection which means boredom could make a way to freedom!
Un excelente y reflexivo post, como todos los que publicas, @chbartist.
This mean your brain is telling you to find something new ........... you like challenges ...... find one and your boring mode will go away
I like this...I believe the only problem with being "bored" is if that means you are not at peace in the stillness... I myself find those quiet moments perfect for meditation, prayer, and Self-reflection.
