So about 2 weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of doing my very first visit to a children's home in Cebu, well anywhere really and let me tell you all I was just so so so blessed just being there, with those amazing people doing such great work. The home is a place where families with children with cancer are cared for during their treatments.
Now I did tag this with the #rak hashtag and some may say that mine and my friend's donations on the day were not exactly random, welllll actually for me it was quite random. My beautiful friend @purpletanzanite invited me along to the celebration of the 2 year anniversary of the home and at first I was kinda hesitant, like it's not really my thing, I will just donate some cash but I'd rather not come. But I did go and I am so glad I did. The time we all spent with these kids and their families was so special, to see their smiles and to watch them have fun and interact with them just made me see, and be grateful for what I have in life. Sometimes we get so carried away thinking that our problems are huge or that they are even problems to begin with that we forget that someone out there in the world may be having it harder than we are that instead of moping about in our misery we should instead be grateful for life because some people are fighting for life on a daily basis.
These kids did not look like victims, they were fighters and in a way I gained more from the experience than they did, I gained a much needed perspective on gratitude and life. Our #rak may have been to spend time with the children and to try make them feel better even if just for a day but truly I feel the act of kindness was more from them to us. They taught us in a very short time what life is truly about and that is taking each day as it comes. That is being strong and fighting through even the toughest battles, that is beating the odds no matter how high they are stacked up against you.
I want to thank the children at Everlasting hope, because they showed me what everlasting hope is. Also would like to thank my fellow Cebu #steemians who took the time in their day to visit the home on it's special day and to bring joy to the lives of others without asking for anything in return. I met some truly amazing people and they happened to be #steemians and this too showed me that together on this platform we can impact the lives of others in our communities, we can create so many #rak moments and build a better future for everyone around us.
Thank you to @fernwehninja, @iamqueenlevita, to my girl @purpletanzanite, @jassennessaj and @gratefulayn You guys really went all out sharing your time, smiles, hugs and light with those beautiful children. It was such a pleasure doing good work with you under a common love for our fellow beings.
