I have been a long time android user... I have never switched to the "other side" and tried Apple products. So... here is my dilemma...
I have a LG V20 as of right now. It cannot hold a charge to save my life. I charge it to 100% and within an hour its already down to 40%. It also randomly dies and shuts off somewhere between 20-15% battery! Its awful. When I got this phone last January it was the "best" android phone with the "best" camera which I was pregnant at the time and had a little one on the way so camera quality was a MAJOR selling point for me. But I've come to find out that my camera is not that great... its fuzzy if anything even slightly moves in the photos, ad the front facing camera is a joke...
A lot of my friends and family have IPHONES and have told me to make the switch. I typically buy my phones outright and not through the payment plan they offer you to "lease" your phone. I need some help in figuring out which way to go? Stay android (or even google phone (pixel)) or make the switch to iPhone.
I have an infant who will soon be a toddler so I am thinking something waterproof and somewhat tough would be awesome. I obviously know that with either choice I may not get EVERYTHING I want. But camera quality is a major thing for me. The second HUGE thing for me is battery life; this is a big deal and I must have a phone that the battery lasts more than 2 hours and doesn't become a house phone because it is constantly plugged in!
Which phone do you have? Why do you love it or hate it? What would you suggest for me ?
On no, Android vs IOS that's almost a religious discussion :)
I switched from iPhone to Android years ago and wouldn't go back. That being said most of the reasons I had at the time no longer apply. There is very little difference these days and it's more of a personal preference thing.
If the camera is your big thing and you don't want to make the switch, I know my wife is happy with her Galaxy S7 after hating the camera on the 4, 5 and 6. I have the S8 and it seems fine to me but I'm not a big camera user. I hear the note 8 has an excellent camera if you like a big expensive phone.
I hear a couple of the Chinese manufacturers, Huawei for example, are making great phones with excellent cameras recently. A friend of mine got the OnePlus 5T and says it's Samsung quality without the high price tag. These are not available everywhere though.
oohh ill have to look into those others that might be a good alternative!! :) camera is a huge deal to me! I got my phone I have now because it supposedly had a great camera and have been so displeased :(
Hi! I am a robot. I just upvoted you! I found similar content that readers might be interested in:

I switched from iphone to android almost 4 yrs ago and there is definitely no going back for me. As far as camera quality goes. I vote samsung. I have an s8 and the quality of photo compared to an iphone has a big difference. I can always tell if someone sends me a pic from an iphone. Water resistant, Although in saying that if the phone has water damage it is not civered by warranty.
I have found that iphone is very simple. Android is more of a mini handheld laptop. What i absolutely hate about the iphone is everything needs to be synced through itunes. You are only allowed up to 5 devices authorised on any one laptop/desktop. If you want to get photos from a friend, it needs to be synced through itunes. Android on the otherhand can be plugged into any usb port and used like a usb drive. No syncing.
Another fallout for iphone is they literally make you upgrade your device. If the device is too old you cant update the software, making it impossible to update apps, download apps and sonetimes run apps you already have. All phones eventually loose life. The battery used is not the greatest as phones design call for light and thin. So eventually every phone battery will loose life. Most people believe that letting your phone reach 0% is best to extend the life, in actual fact due to the lithium battery it is better to charge your phone when there is still 40-50% battery life.
Samsung has the touch fingerprint, pattern unlock and facial recognition.
Facetime...how often do you really use it? There is skype now and if you use watsapp which most people do, you can video call through there.
Bixby which is samsung voice command isnt all that great although what i do like is it can translate. Take a photo of what you would like translated and it will translate it for you. You can take a pic of an item and use bixby and it will tell you what the item is and where you can purchase it from. I dont really use these functions though.
Imessage on iphone uses data. Much like watsapp but you can msg any one who uses watsapp, it is not just for android uses. Everyone i know uses watsapp so it is quite convenient.
Samsung also allows you to respond within the notification. Samsung also allows you to insert an sd card for larger storage capacity. Iphone has never had this option. The more storage the phone has the higher the price. Samsung on the otherhand is the same storage capacity of 32gb amd you can add an sd card.
I personally try to convert everyone to android! I would not see myself going back to apple. If something happens to your iphone and it is not backed up, you loose everything.
The winner for me was that i didnt have to sync to itunes. The camera quality and the storage capacity for an option of an sd card. It is more versitile.
The s9 should be coming out in a few moths and every yr the phone becomes better!
Hope ive converted you😁
THIS! This has been the most helpful well thought out review ive gotten! Ive even posted on my fb asking friends and family their opinion and haven't gotten this good of an answer! im pretty sure you may have just convinced me to stick with android my friend! :):)
I may have to ask samsung to give me commission for converting iphone users😂
you really should!!! haha
I think android os the best mobbile operating system.
Every people android can use easily and apple don't can people use easily.
That's a so much tough.
yes there are pros and cons to both which is why its so hard to choose! :)
