A common belief is that you must be a "sinker" if you want to avoid being a pessimist and living in a negative world. Although it is true that pessimists are more prone to negative things and have more difficulties coping with life, this does not mean that you have to become one. Having a positive outlook is very much encouraged in the workplace because pessimists are less productive than those who are positive thinkers. It is also advisable for your business to have a positive outlook. This can be achieved by creating a positive work culture.
However, not all of us can change every aspect of our lives by just walking into the office and changing our views and feelings about negative things. There are times when we will have to face obstacles or setbacks and we cannot let go of them easily. Some people are so hard-hearted that they will even feel depressed or guilty about having caused more damage than good to their own company. In order to stay positive in a negative world, you have to make sure that you do not allow yourself to be affected by these setbacks.
Instead of wallowing in self-pity, you have to allow other people to help you move on. When we allow other people to help us, we will be better able to deal with whatever obstacles we face. It is important that you try to cultivate relationships with your co-workers and your superiors. In this way, you will have people you can rely on. They will listen to you will not have to worry that they will not offer you any help because you already have people to lean on to get through the tough times.
