No, not cocaine...just coke for now lol.
So, the story starts like this: my wife is trying to quit smoking and out of solidarity I told her I would quit drinking fizzy drinks too. I am not really into anything else and I wasn´t going to give up football so coke was the only choice.
I have drank coke, pepsi and all kind of sugary drinks all my life, I have never considered them to be bad for you since it has always been a part of my normal diet. The reason I quit has nothing to do with me not liking it, I actually love the taste and I would kill for a coke or a 7up right now!, however I try to look at the positive side and think it will be good to cut down on the amount of sugar, aspartame and colorants in my life.
In Venezuela, being the Caribbean country that is, you can ask for a mango or a watermelon juice almost anywhere but being the idiot that I was as a kid I always asked for cold coca cola instead. Since I moved abroad (England, Spain, Argentina) I realized that when you visit a restaurant you pretty much have 2 options: fizzy drinks or alcohol. Hell I have even asked for a lemonade and received fanta lemon!!
So my solution has been the good old water! at first it’s kind of boring but then you get used it, if its dinner you could also have a glass of wine and who wants a coke when you can have a Malbec from Mendoza?
So far I am not going to lie and tell you I have seen huge changes in my day to day life style. I feel about the same physically but mentally it feels great to quit something that I know for sure its not good for me.
Does anyone want a coke now?
nasty!
That's gross! and of course we know from grade school chemistry, that you can't dissolve that much sugar in that little liquid; so they add loads of other crap, to get the sugar to dissolve. Ugh!

Hell yeah, Coke and others alike are all just empty calories. Liquid syrup.
Good luck, its one of my vices too!
I too quit from a sweetened beverages, due to tooth problems. Wish you much luck and great life!
I dropped all carbs. Cuts the desire for sugar completely.
Keep it up Chitty, round about day 23 you won't even remember you used to drink the stuff :-)
Good luck to your wife, cigarettes are much harder :-(

I have kicked the coke habit many times, but I always find it harder to work without it. Perhaps I will kick it again.
Get yourself a nutribullet juicer and lots of fruit and coconut water, it's refreshing and the sucrose gives you a nice pick me up :-)

In fact, the sugar is what mostly pushes you when you drink coke. There's not as much caffeine in it as most people think.
I do coffee now, but its not as refreshing lol
Tried green or mate tea already?
I drink mate and also mate tea with milk.. I didnt know it was popular outside argentina and uruguay?
Green tea is also good, but still not as refreshnig as an ice cold coca cola!, talking about it makes me really want to drink one actually, sounds crazy does it not?.. I never thought I could be addicted to coca-cola.. but maybe I am.
I've been drinking mate since over a decade.
A couple of years ago a soft drink based on it got famous here in germany (with hackers first, now it's everywhere), I've mostly switched to that since. I only contains 5g of sugar per 100ml, less than carrot juice!
WOW! Mate soft drink, we don´t even have that here!
I drink the original mate, takes a while to prepare so its not always convenient, but since people like to share it then there is always someone in the office drinking it:
I wonder when we will see the first post about somebody's attempt to quit the addiction to Steem.
Congrats on accomplishing this in support of your wife and for your own good health!
I'm known for drinking a lot of water, but I do add about 20% V8 Splash to the 80% water, for flavor and whatever value the fruit and veggie juices add. It tastes good to me, and is very low on sugar since I use very little of the juice.
I banned all sugars a year ago and been since losing weight as easy as it can get while eating as I used to, low meat diet but further protein and vitamine rich. No coke, no sda's, no nicotine or alcohol.
