Stingray sting can not be underestimated. There are many cases that lead to death.
In 2016, a diver named Philip Chan got a stingray stingray attack on his chest to death in the recreation park of Underwater World Singapore.
Then 10 years ago, conservation activist and television celebrity, Steve Irwin, died of being attacked by a stingray in the Great Barrier Reef.
Actually how deadly poison of the stingray?
When the stingrays attack, he does not have to deal with the victim because all he does is swing his long tail up over his body and about whatever is in front of him.
Stingrays have no control over their attacks.
In most cases when a sting enters a person's body, pressure can lead to tearing of the toxic membrane that wraps it. When this protector is torn the poison will flow into the wound.
Quoted from animals howstuffworks, stingray fish poison is not fatal but very painful.
This poison is composed of enzymes 5-nucleotidase phosphodiesterase and serotonin.
Serotonin causes severe injury to smooth muscle, this component that causes stingrays toxins is very painful.
The enzyme causes death in cells and tissues.
If the poison gets into the ankle area, it can be overcome.
The provision of heat will damage this toxin and limit the amount of damage caused by toxins.
If not treated promptly and correctly allow for amputation, but if toxins enter the chest or abdominal cavity, resulting in tissue death and will be fatal because the main organ lies in this area.
If a thorn goes into the heart as reported in Steve Irwin's accident, the result will be fatal.
Although stingray toxins can cause serious harm, the most devastating part of the stingray attack mechanism lies in the stabbing of the shin.
The sharp ends of the spines will enter easily in the tissue but when the spines are removed the jagged part of the sting will injure and damage the larger tissue.
Even though the sting is not toxic, removing the sting from the chest or pereut one can tear the tissue enough
