My first and best step was ditching Gulag search, then GMAIL. Then it was YT, which 99.9% of the time I refuse to visit. Eventually it will be nice to try to stay away from apps and things that utilize their ad trackers but that's a much more difficult thing to do on phones.

I have disabled my phones so that they can only make phone calls and text. I can't even check the weather. Infuriates my kids, my clients (I can't send them pics of problems that need fixing, or the fixes I make, for example), and everyone I know.
Great success!
Thanks!
That's good, it's funny that we desire to go backwards in tech because of the insidious nature of the whole thing. I wouldn't entirely mind to have a phone that was the old flip phones, texts and calls only. Pictures I do have to have but could just carry around my other phone SIM-free or even just a point and shoot digital camera.
It's truly a mockery of tech advance that the utility of our devices is perverted into surveillance and tracking that turns them into curses instead of blessings. OSH can't mature soon enough.
