I have just learned that Vidme is closing down for good:(
I have put a lot of time and effort into creating exclusive content on Vidme.
It was a lot of peoples hope that they would grow into a real alternative to YouTube....Unfortunately this was not the case.
Although this is sad news for me and many others, I will continue to create content on YouTube.
Since I was an exclusive Vidme content creator for the past few months I have not been uploading anywhere else. Over the next few weeks I will be posting a lot of my videos from Vidme onto YouTube.
This is a Vidme exclusive review I did on the Cold Steel Recon 1. Watch it now on YouTube:
I will still be working on creating brand new content during this transition as well!
Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so that you can stay up to date on what I am creating!

There are a few other promising sites for video content creators that I will be trying out as well. Here are some sites I am currently on:

super gutted to hear them shutting down. feel like they might have been squeezed out. tends to be a lot of that stuff going on right now.
I tried out VidMe and while it was kind of cool to have a Youtube alternative the site was honestly never that great IMHO. The idea of having people support their peers just wans't going to work, people are not going to open their wallets to match what big companies will in advertising and not only that but it wasn't convenient to support someone.
One time I wanted to give this girl $5 for a great video, however I was prompted to enter my credit card number so I was going to have to get up and run out to my car to get my card, and wound up not donating.
The other problem is people exepect content for free or near free nowdays. Many people do torrents or use sites like Showbox, Netflix is only like $8 and you get a ton of content. For me to support just 8 creators at $1 per piece would cost me what Netflix costs me and I don't feel I'm getting the value from a handful of vidme creators like I am from Netflix.
Sorry to hear you
I tried VidMe for a while but realized it just wasn't sustainable and the site didn't work that great. The search feature was never that good.
The idea of people supporting peers out of their own pocket really won't work. We expect free or at least great and cheap content. Look at how many people use Showbox and torrent sites. For something like Netflix I pay what $8 or $9 per month. For me to support 8 or 9 creators it would cost the same and I'm not getting the quantity or quality of content that say Netflix or Hulu delivers me at the same price.
It also wasn't easy to support a creator, required typing your credit card number into stripe, wasn't like a one click type setup.
I tried it but wasn't sold. I was acually thnking about going back and doing a big dump of the past 6 months of Youtube videos on there and just happenned to see that it was shutting down
