Today marks the day in the year 1775 that my supposed genealogical relative Patrick Henry claimed his conscience and raised his voice. I like to think that a bit of that rebel spirit has been passed down through the gene pool and rests sweetly in my heart.
I am a firm believer that all humans should be able to live in liberty. If you are aware of the current events of our world, you may recognize with a heavy heart that this belief is currently far from reality...
Merriam-Webster defines Liberty as:
1: the quality or state of being free:
a : the power to do as one pleases
b : freedom from physical restraint
c : freedom from arbitrary or despotic control
d : the positive enjoyment of various social, political, or economic rights and privileges
e : the power of choice
Over two hundred years later and we are still slaughtering each other over basic human rights. But! It is more than just rights— countless souls don’t even have the simple needs for a healthy human existence!
We have a long way to go, but I stand strong with the idea that humans have basic rights as creatures of this earth, just like all other beings on our planet: animals, plants and the resources of the earth itself!
While we might not be able to personally provide people with liberties, we can use our voices and our choices to support those close to us.
Luckily, these days we basically live in a transcontinental world, meaning that the people close to our hearts don’t need to be close in terms of distance. Even if you haven’t left your town, modern access to the world-wide-web provides access to a great portion of our human population, and in turn, the world at large.
I am very excited to soon share with you all the community engagement program that @notconvinced and I are organizing. Not only can we utilize our power of choice, but we can experience more in-depth engagement with personal freedom while helping others free themselves from the many restraints of the situations or systems placed upon them. We hope that this very simple format for connecting steemians in need with helpful friends can bring a bit more liberty into the lives of those who interact with the platform.
Keep your eye out on Monday, March 26th and start sharing your needs and your abilities with steemit users around the world.
Till next time, friends.
choose liberty!

Interested in hearing more about that program!
What powerful words! And yes, central authority is what keeps us divided, so it's time to decentralize...
