One of the most natural things you may discover about life is that change is inevitable. In the same vein, most people resist change. You may even be prepared to make a change, but something holds you back in your comfort zone.
Taking action becomes difficult, and before you know it, you fall back into your old routine. But this does not have to be. You can get out of that place. Read on to find out more about how to make positive changes in your life.
The first thing you should do is to identify why you need to make positive changes in your life. No matter your resolution, if you don’t have a strong ‘why,’ you will not be motivated to make that change you desire. When you define your core value by identifying what is important to your life, your gut feelings will be triggered, and you will take steps to move to the next level.
Secondly, purge your mind of negative thoughts. This is not an easy feat for if you live or are surrounded by negativity, it can be excruciatingly difficult to have a joyful and positive life. You will be surprised to note that people filled with negativity are usually sick, more stressed out, and are open to small opportunities.
Therefore, to get out of that rut, you need to make up your mind to be positive in all situations and at all times. Back it up with action by reading books on positivity and meeting with people who have a more positive outlook on life. Be willing to take baby steps by doing the following:
• Smile more often, or better still laugh more;
• Be prepared to help others;
• Stop playing the victim at all times and accept responsibility for your actions (or inactions);
• Be around positive people. Rub minds with them;
• Change how you think. Be more optimistic about life as against being pessimistic;
• Be grateful for every situation;
• Approach problems with a positive outlook and solutions.
Once again, this is easier said than done, but with determination, you will get there.
Performing exercises are therapeutic; not only are they great for you physically but it is an excellent way to obtain that positive vibe you need in your life.
Closing with this quote from The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem by Nathaniel Branden:
‘No one is coming.’ That means all these tips will not work until you put in the work.
