This was the biggest, baddest, meanest hurricane I have ever seen. Having lived in Cuba and the Florida all my life I've seen many. I've been into the eye of a hurricane before but nothing as big as this one.
Hello fellow Steemians, I'm back, and very happy to say, safe and sound! So is my family, we are all safe and sound. The Bitcoin twins are happy as ever, for them this was all a new adventure. Now that electricity is back I can finally report to steemit what happened.
The eye of monster hurricane Irma ended up passing about 90 miles away from my house. However, this one was so big that it covered almost the entire STATE OF FLORIDA! It was still, very strongly felt here and caused lots of property damages in Miami. Also, some looting has been reported but don't worry guys, we are safe and well protected.
Around my house, most of the damage was mainly felled trees. Thanks god no one was hurt. Property damages have been relatively small compared to other towns like Naples or Fort Myers, Florida where the destruction has been much worse.

My heart breaks as i was watching the videos and looking at your pictures, too. I could remember the time way back 2013, when strongest Typhoon Yolanda hit Tacloban where thousands of people died of storm surge.. It was nver expected..never happened like that in history, too. And that led to Tacloban City Philippines as the ghost city..
Then after Yolanda, came the magnitude 7.1 quake in.the visayas. 2013 was indeed black..lol
But, every thing that happened is a wake up call from God to us. We just have to cling ourselves to HIM. Because He is a living loving God above all.
I am glad you are safe. We made it thought. The eye went by us as a Cat 2...was only about 40 miles away. Got back to the coast today to find things okay but no cell phone or power (power back now but cell still no signal).
This was so bad that even the Southernmost Point buoy got a chunk taken out of it from the wave action.
You are right, there was nowhere to hide from this one...it covered the entire state. Overall, solid preparation made the state very lucky.
Wow, 40 miles was really close. Wind gusts were really strong here. Glad to hear you got power and no major damages. A lot of people are still without power and will remain so for weeks
4.2M homes out of power at one point...you are right that will take some time to get through.
It seems there are two more sitting out there although Jose isnt going to hit us most likely.
