We all want unconditional love!
What is the deal unconditional love? We all want it! But do we all offer it to others? Perhaps offering unconditional love to our friends who happen to agree with us and don't hurt us isn't that hard but what about our enemies? That's the hard part, isn't it? Have you ever tried loving your enemies?
Love your enemies...
If you ask anyone who's heard a bit about Jesus to tell you something he said or taught, they'll probably tell you that Jesus taught his followers to love their enemies. In Matthew 5 we read that Jesus said to his followers that if you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
God's love is unconditional!
Isn't that amazing? God has countless enemies in this world and He can wipe them out in a blink of an eye, yet He doesn't. He loves them unconditionally and causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous as we read Jesus teaching his followers in Matthew 5.
Try it...
Try loving everyone unconditionally and I promise you that you will not regret it. Lower your standards and expectations from others. Give generously without expecting to get anything back. I promise you that love never fails!

I struggle with the line between loving unconditionally and being an enabler. Is "tough love" part of unconditional love, or the opposite of unconditional love?
I would personally leave the "tough" part to God. The Bible says that human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires so I've learned to let go and let God! :)
If your still loving unconditionally tough love is still part of it. I think everybody understands love differently though.

God's love is unconditional and it is amazing !
to love some one regardless of there faults ups and downs ,to love them even when they strike back at you ,to love and care for someone asking nothing in return,to always be there for them when things go sour .never to judge or expect anything in return.

Amen! :)
I really try to love people unconditionally. But I think that is an attribute of God. Only He can do it perfectly. Here still in our sinful bodies, we won't even get close. BUT HE loved us when we were still sinners and offered His only Son for us. That is unconditional love!
That's true. We fall short every second but we should never give up trying! :)
