Hi to every Steemit user that might stumple over my first little post on here, I'm from a small country called Denmark and I thought it could be funny to show our money and what it looks like. I know, I can already hear it myself, money bills ain't funny.. But atleast someone might find it interesting, ''I hope''.
I hope you will enjoy the little bit of history.
If you are interested in Denmark and would like to know more, then please let me know and I will try to provide, please submit ideas aswell.
So back in 2009 we got five new bills, they try to connect the present with the past, the present is represented by the bridges, while the past is represented by five characteristic relics. (We like bridges a lot and I mean a lot, they bind our little country of islands together)
The danish currency is the ''Danish crown or DKK'' to give a bit of perspective.
1$ = 6,28 DKK when this post was written.
So as I said we have five bills:
50 crowns - featuring: The Sallingsundbridge and Skarpsalling-clay pot.
100 crowns - featuring: The old Lillebæltsbridge and Hindsgavl-dagger.
200 crowns - featuring: Knippelsbridge and belt plate from Langstrup.
500 crowns - featuring: Dronning Alexandrines bridge and a bronze bucket from Keldby.
1000 crowns - featuring: Storebæltsbridge og Solvognen (aka Sun Chariot).
The 50 crowns bill = 7.98$
Lets begin with the smallets one, the Sallingsbridge connects Salling with inlet island Mors, the bridge is 1.7km long, that is equal to 1.06 mile and 26 meters high.
The clay pot was found in a burial chamber made of stone near Himmerland in 1891, but it is estimated to be from around 3200 B.C
The 100 crowns bill = 15.92$
The old Lillebæltsbridge connects Jylland with one of the bigger islands Fyn it was made back in 1935, it's 1.1km long which is equal to 0.68 miles, a boat sailing under it can not have sails higher than 33 meters.
The dagger is 29.5 cm long made of flint in the stoneage around 1900-1700 B.C
The 200 crowns bill = 31.84
Knippelsbridge connects Slotshomen og Christianshavn in Copenhagen. The first bridge built at this spot, was build in 1618-20 by King Christian 4. unfortunetly the bridge that stands today is not the same, there has been made five since, the newest was build in 1937. The bridge is 115 meters long, but when ship have to sail under it, the bridge will raise up so that ship up to 35 meters tall can sail under it.
The belt plate from Langstrup was found in a marsh in 1880 together with other relics, it has been dated back to the older ages of the bronze age 1400 B.C
The 500 crown bill = 79,59$
The Dronning Alexandrines bridge (aka Queen Alexandrines bridge) also called Mønbroen opened in 1943, it connects South Sealand with Møn, it's 746 meters long and sailing under it your mast cannot be higher than 26 meters.
The bronze bucket from keldby on Møn was found when a farmer was plowing his field in the time before 1826, it is estimated to be from 400-300 B.C very likely from Macedonia or some black sea colony.
The 1000 Crowns bill = 159$
The Storebæltsbrdige consists of a east bridge and a west bridge, it open in 1998. The east side of the bridge connects Sprogø with Sealand, it's 6.7 km long equal to 4.1 mile. The eastend of the bridge is a suspension bridge which lays over international waters. The two pylons is each 254 meters tall and thereby on of Denmark highest places.
Solvognen (aka Sun Chariot) was found in 1902 again a farmer was plowing his fields in Trundholm in west Sealand. The Chariot was made during the bronze age 1400 B.C
