Staying in Singapore downs and ups

Mentality

Singapore is not a developing country, It is very modern and more close to the west in technology, medical services, infrastructure and any kind of science. Multicultural mix especially between Indian, chinese and Malaysians is lovely to see them working together in Singapore. It is most a well tolerated country in religion, etnicity and freedom of speech while keeping everyone in their value.

What is developed in Singapore

Public transportation: MRT and Busses cover the entire island. They are in pristine condition and are well maintained for the most part. Some MRT trains might even be brand new. There are even overnight busses that cover the midnight to 5am hours.
Technology: High Internet speeds and fiber optic coverage is island wide. Subscriptions per month are relatively cheap. Customer Service: CS is top notch in Asia. Businesses are ready to serve with a smile and are very professional. Almost Heaven Like: Singapore is well known as the Disneyland with a death penalty. Vacation spots are plentiful, especially in Sentosa, where you’ll encounter the world famous Universal Studios theme park. One Beautiful City: Especially in the city-center, Singapore is a beautiful city with greenery and beaches at East Coast Park. Singapore is one of the most well maintained and well organized cities in the world.

Expensive

In the EIU’s index, Singapore stands head and shoulders above the world’s other cash gobbling metropolises for one reason: cars cost a fortune. The government has a deliberate policy of jacking up the cost as a means of keeping cars off the road and limiting congestion. You’ll pay about US$70,000 so that you can impress everyone with an entry-level Suzuki Swift. But in a compact city with cheap and reliable public transport and affordable cabs, it’s perfectly reasonable to go without a car. In fact, getting around in other cities can seem expensive by comparison. Local travel in Singapore is actually so reasonable, that many expats end up saving money on getting around.

Downside's

Next to the fact that its not a cheap place to stay, the biggest problem for me is that especially the chinese have a very bad English. They rather speak chinese and are difficult to learn it with a proper pronunciation. Most of the country is inhabited with chinese. The 40+ chinese sometimes even do not speak English at all. Even working in restaurants etc.Yesterday i even asked if they have wifi to a older chinese woman. Well a rude answer as if i was bothering her. I complained and the manager apologized, but these things are fairly common in Singapore. In the young generation though almost everybody speaks with a reasonable accent.
