This is in my brother's car. I was visiting my mom and by brother wanted me to look at his interior driver side door handle. The plastic had cracked and came loose.
I looked at it and it seemed like it was pretty bad, if it broke anymore, I mean got worse, he might have to roll down the window and open the door from the outside handle.
My brother's car is black and is now 20 years old. I can imagine the years and decades passing and the car getting all heated up in the hot sun especially with his car being black absorbing all that heat of the sun.
We also have to remember that the interior door handle is made out of plastic and heat and cold over the years and decades will do its toll on plastic.
Did you ever have a plastic bucket that you kept in the backyard and many times was left out in the sun? Notice that after some time, the plastic bucket starts to disintegrate and you have to throw the bucket away.
That has happened to me multiple times. So now we know that plastic cannot take too much heat and cold and keep its integrity.
Same thing with interior plastic door handles.
Even in my own cars did I have interior plastic door handle problems.

Yes after awhile interior plastic handles do break over time.
The thing with me is that my interior driver side door handle broke and I brought it over to my mechanics and they did fix it, but it cost me about 125 dollars out the door.
Well, when my interior passenger side handle broke, that is the one in the second picture, I wanted it fixed, but I didn't want to come up with another 125 dollars.
I checked up on ebay just to see if they do have the part. Well, they did have the part for sale and I think it only cost me about 12 dollars or so out the door.
Well, I ordered it and then started to look up Youtube videos of people fixing their interior broken door handles. It seemed like I could do it. So when the part came, I did put it on. I am not going to say it was easy, but it was doable and I saved a lot of money doing it myself.
So let's get back to my brothers car. I told my brother that I could order the part and put it into his car. I looked up the part that was compatible with his car and it cost less than 8 dollars.
I told him that for 30 dollars I will order the part and put it into his car. He agreed to give me the 30 dollars, so I did go and order the part that was needed.
After the part came and I had time to fix it I did go over and fix his driver side interior door handle. It wasn't easy, but it was doable.
My brother wrote me a check for 40 dollars, more than I asked for.
The first picture is my brother's brand new driver side interior door handle. Hopefully it will last a long time, maybe even 20 years, like the last interior door handle.
