My Tires Were Wearing Thin 2.8.2020

It was around summer of last year when a guy that did the oil change tells me that pretty soon I will need some new tires as the thread is running low.

So I waited until now to get some new tires. This time I got some cheap new tires as I don't plan on long trips with my 89 Nissan Sentra. I like this car for just running around town.

I actually found the place from Craigslist. Under the wheels and tires category. The size I was looking for was 175/70R13 and I found it for the set $149 when you buy 4.

I walked into their shop and told them the size I wanted and that I will buy a set of four for the $149. Of course that is not the out the door price. With all the other fees and taxes it came out to just over $181.

I asked and that includes new air stems, mount, balance and installation.

They told me that they didn't have my size in the shop and that they would have to get it from the warehouse which is 20 minutes away. I told them that I would wait.

Well, I waited for awhile then thought I would take a walk. I actually walked into a McDonald's and was looking at the cost of a quarter pounder. I saw a price over $8. Wow with tax that is almost $9. So I walked out of that McDonald's.

I kept on walking. I thought maybe I am walking into a bad section of town. I better start going back to the shop. Then I get a phone call.

It is the shop. They say they are almost finished, but wanted to know if I wanted to add a wheel alignment to the purchase. I told them that I went to another shop for an alignment, but they wanted me to put in new ball joints and wouldn't do the alignment without new ball joints.

So I told the guy, if he could do the alignment and I don't have to put in the new ball joints I will do it. He told me that he will do the alignment.

So I started walking back to the shop, which was a good idea as I seemed to be walking into a bad section of town. Well, I really wouldn't want to walk that section at night, that is for sure.

Well, I made it back to the shop and I recognized my license plate on my 89 Nissan Sentra that was up on the platform where they work on the wheel alignments.

So by the time I walk back into the shop waiting area I am pretty heated up from the long walk. I sat down for awhile and they call my name.

I ask the guy what is the total damage for the day. With the alignment the total came out to $221.41. That was good and they told me that I get free tire rotations every 5,000 miles and free flat tire fixes so long as the holes are not on the sidewalls.

Here is a picture of one of the new tires.

I am happy with the purchase. The last set of tires lasted me 11 years. Let's see how long this set of tires will last.

Let's end with a scripture, A false balance abomination to the LORD: but a just weight his delight. Proverbs 11:1.

The difference between old and new tires is clear.
